Education: B.A. History with a minor in Dance
I began to take an interest in different dance forms and styles after high school, especially ethnic dances of Eastern Europe. This was my starting point, which opened up a whole new world to me.
I continued to develop my own dance style while in college. After college, I attended dance leadership workshops and festivals, and became a FOLK DANCE LEADER shortly thereafter, running my own dances for several years.
During this period, I also become very active in the promotion of FOLK DANCE FESTIVALS that were held at various schools and colleges, the most important one being the HERITAGE DANCE FESTIVAL.
Around 1989, I discovered CAJUN and ZYDECO dancing through a workshop given by a couple who had recently returned to this area from Lousiana. CAJUN and ZYDECO have become my favorite dance forms since then. The fun I have when dancing shows when I am teaching a class or demonstrating dance at an event.
I continue to be active in the CAJUN/ZYDECO dance community, especially by giving lessons that are geared to beginning students. In this way, I am able to encourage new dancers, and bring new folks into the dance community.
I have participated in various fairs and festivals in the Philadelphia area, including the Philadelphia Folk Festival.
I have taught dance in many places, including the Mount Airy Learning Tree, Cheltenham Adult School, Hatboro-Horsham Adult School, and the Blue Bell School of Dance.
All of my experience has led me to teaching at special events, private and group lessons, and also at private parties.
